Xiaomi Wearables Receive December Update: Mi Band 9 Series Gets a Major UI Overhaul and Improved Sports Experience

On December 2, Zhang Lei, Vice President of Xiaomi’s Mobile Division and General Manager of the Wearables Division, announced the latest update roadmap for Xiaomi’s wearable lineup, sharing progress made in November as well as new features coming in December.

In the December update, the Mi Band 9 series will receive a refreshed interface with the new OS 3 system, delivering a smoother and more intuitive user experience. The new version includes optimized abnormal activity alerts, ensuring users receive timely notifications during workouts. Notably, the updated Band 9 will support hiding pre-installed apps, offering greater customization. The newly added YU7 NFC car key feature will also bring significant convenience to everyday travel for car owners.

The Mi Band 9 Pro will also receive a UI upgrade. Users can now check important notifications simply by raising their wrist, improving information accessibility. Sports data accuracy will be enhanced through an upgraded stride frequency–pace algorithm and new manual satellite ephemeris updates, ensuring more precise metrics during workouts.

The REDMI Watch 5 series will also adopt the OS 3 interface update, with improvements to the cycling mode for more accurate operation during rides. The newly added manual ephemeris update will speed up positioning, offering a smoother sports experience.
